At long measurement distances, even a small wobble at the laser emitter causes wide movement of the laser point at the end of the line, potentially ruining a measurement, especially on a small target. Gesture-activated measurements eliminate the need to touch the DISTO: Carefully place the laser dot or crosshairs of the point finder camera on your target and simply wave a hand in front of the device to briefly interrupt the beam. When the DISTO senses the pulse, it triggers the measurement.
